I live with my mother in law because she needs my care. However, I need to get certified and I dont know how. I have tried looking it up on the internet but found no answers. Can someone please help me? I would also like to know how long it would take. For us to get an apartment together, to be certified would really help. Thank you to all that can help.

If you are just wanting to be a CNA who can work from home with a homebound person, you can attain this license through your local Trade School, usually like a Vo-tech. Your best bet would be to call around and ask, someone will know where to go. If you are desperate to know for sure, call the nearest nursing home. I can assure you that they know where to go for certification! They have a HUGE turnover of employees, and when they hire a new person, they only have a small window of opportunity to get them licensed in order to keep them on staff.

Good luck to you! God bless.

You certainly do not need to be "certified" to get an apartment together. Caretakers do not get apartments with their patients. To work in home healthcare, you have to be a nurse. You can't just fill out some paperwork and they hand you a certificate. It would take years and years to get this. You couldn't find anything because it's under this:

Is there a vo-tech in your area? These are schools with short training classes.
Check with the home heatlh care places in your area, they may can qualify you and pay you to work and get paid for doing it.
Most home health in our area don't require you to be certified, just as care giver. They only require qualified nurses.
