Thailand is located in southeast Asia, specifically what is known as Indochina. The capital of Thailand (formerly Siam) is Krung Thep (Bangkok).

Krung Thep is only 11 miles north of the Gulf of Thailand, which reaches southward to the South China Sea. Krung Thep is also 144 miles east of the Andaman Sea, which is separated from the Bay of Bengal by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which belong to India.
