Don't be doing that. You might dream that you are dreaming, and that is rough.
"Lucid Dreaming" is the name of the book, I believe.

You have to use logic! Basically you need to program yourself to be looking for things that couldn't happen in the real world. I think that it gets easier with practice, but I haven't been able to achieve it with any regularity.
One snafu is that once you realize you are dreaming your body tends to want to wake up, making the lucid dreaming experience short. I read somewhere that you should try to spin in your dream, sometimes it works.
I have had some great lucid dreams like this, exploring my own worlds, flying and other stuff. I wish I could do it more! It seems to come in waves. I have found that I can do it best if I wake up in the middle of the night, then go back to sleep. I really don't know why though.

Lucid Dreaming is the book you are thinking of. However, long before this came out I had purchased a book on understanding your dreams.
Once I could piece together the elements of my dreams and realize from whence they came, I was then able to be a able to choose much of the time what the topic would be. Also to change the course and outcome of some problem dreams (nightmares). They problem dreams have not returned in over twenty years now.

What you refer to is called lucid dreams. Anyone can do it you just have to learn to control your dreams.
You should always practice being aware you are dreaming. It can be fun and entertaining. Also if you have nightmares you have the ability to turn the tables and have all good dreams the rest of your life. I've been doing this since I was a kid and it is easy thing to do.

I've worked at a bookstore, yet I cannot recall the title. There is a dream section and I remember subjects on "lucid dreams." I have lucid dreams all of the time. It's crazy. I'm crazy.

Someone told me the other day that there is a kit you can buy that includes a mask of some sort to wear over your eyes when you are sleeping. Lucid dreams are the BEST!!!

A good thing to do is take it in steps. try to remember the dreams you have. then in your dreams if you realize you are indeed dreaming try and take control of what happens with the dream you may have to start with little things and then you can work onto controlling the entire dream so people even progress into astral traveling, which is where ones mind travels pretty much anywhere while their body stays asleep in there beds. I have progressed to that, it is really quite amazing what you can do with your mind.
