not for everyone, I think some people do better under a Theocracy or other types of governments; I think Vietnam is doing pretty well under Communism and they are most favored trade status with us, Venezuela voted for a socialist with plans for near communism. Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone likes to vote.

Actually I kind of agree with Churchill - it's the worst form of government, apart from all the other ones.
I would like to point out to those Americans who don't know their own history that America is technically not a democracy, but a republic; the framers of the Constitution had grave doubts about the value of democracy, and created the federal government as we know it now so as to centralise power and diminish the influence of the ordinary citizen as much as possible. Your Bill of Rights only exists because Federalists like Hamilton and Adams were dragged, almost literally kicking and screaming, into letting it pass.
Me, jealous? You have no idea how much I don't want to live in America right now.

Pure democracy, basically total rule of the people, would not be the best form of government. While it would provide everyone with a vote on every issue, it is too unstable. What is most popular becomes the law regardless of its consequences. Also, it would be painfully slow and cumbersome to do get anything accomplished. It would present a logistical nightmare, you have to have an election every time you want to pass a bill. We want to give the local library permission to buy fifty random books, we need a public election to approve this measure. Bob wants to put a shed on his property, another public election.
I do believe our form of Constitutional republic is about the best form of government for most situations. It provides a voice for the people, they elect representatives. Allows representatives to do the business of the people in a much more orderly and timely fashion. It also provides protections against discrimination, allows due process of law, and protects all those other Bill of Rights rights, these would not be protected or provided in a pure democracy.

If you look up the word democracy in the dictionary you will find the definition to mob rule. Not a good form of government.

Yes I do but there are many different forms of democracy. The only true democracy is actually socialism/communism where the will of the ppl rules.

Democracy is the best government because the people are free to choose their leader, there is freedom, business is open to everybody and the framework of government is for the people.

A Democratic Republic is a good experiment. The Capitalist part messes it up a bit. The taxes are really messed up. It is the best we got, so it is OK for Protestant/Christian Capitalistic rich get richer and poor die outside hospitals that they have no insurance for.

No question about it. The people who knock America abroad are jealous. And the people who knock it over here should try moving to another country and speak out against that country.
