i believe that occupation, wealth, income, and education, have alot to do with determining a person's position in society. What other factors do you think are important in defining a person's social class and why? what makes it so important? why is occupation, wealth, income, and education enough to decide which class it places someone in? I would love to hear other's point of view as to what makes up a Social Class. thanks!

Who and what they were born into (genes, social status, etc.) has very much to do with a person's social class.
Where the person attended school, and how well he/she did there also means a lot.
How the person was raised has a lot to do with what they will accomplish in life (good = high self-confidence, etc.)
Who the person chose as peers is very important (the smartest of the smart will not do well if hanging out with the worst of the worst people for any length of time).
How a person acts--what he or she does in life--what kind of person he/she is towards others are definitely contributing factors. (manners, social graces, charm)
I don't so much agree that the occupation and income of the person puts him/her in a particular class--I thinking along the lines of his or her parents occupations and incomes having much to do with it.
Additionally, if the parents are well-off, they are the ones who push the children to succeed. They can get them into the best schools, they can get them tutors (if necessary), they can keep the children with other children of a high social class.

It was once said that the weak will inherit the earth. We are wreaking the results right now. Imagine a world where fat, bald, simple minded people run the world. Where a peace of green paper is more important that your mind. Where your body is sacrificed for production of car parts. Where the most important thing in your life is CSI Miami and McDonald's. And where commercials run peoples minds. In this twisted upside down society I'd say the five factors are; 1)How much of your soul your willing to sell for money 2)How much of your health you'll sacrifice as working hours 3) How much humiliation you can take in the form of *** kissing 4)How weak minded you are, and willing to do what your told 5) And the final factor is your lack of any sense of individuality.

tpical for social status hstory plays a big, if your family was traditionally wealthy you are just next in line. second would be social status compared to all people within your class, sometimes "nuevo riche" do appear who do not understand complexitites of wealth and are beneath old blue bloods. wealth, social class make up two of the prereqs.
the other three are popularity among the class you reside and as whole, for example royal families in general and in specific those that have notable presence in the common world. social class is also determined here. final two represent not education as all social elites believe in affluence, that given bu whats not given is aristocratic behavior and tendencies to be elitest is the remaining factors to separate wealth
