Thanks everyone. I asked because I just purchased one for $450. I am a substitute teacher and on a really tight budget so I jumped on the offer. So far so good though.

The 4 cylinder version is a bit underpowered for hilly terrain, but makes for a fine around town and highway cruiser for fuel economy. The 6 cylinder version has a good bit of power and torque, so will scoot quite well, and the one I had, gave me good highway fuel economy of up to 34 mpg if I treated it nicely, 30 if I was rough on it. Reliability was there for me, others have had mixed results. It makes for a good people mover since you can fit 5 in there easily. Visability was good for me, might be a little limited for very short people.
Good luck.

I've never personally owned one, but I know people who have. They are fine for somebody on a budget, the engine and transmission are fairly reliable. However, they are terribly underpowered, they aren't powerful enough to really be good on major highways and they wouldn't be particularly good at withstanding impact (wrecking).

its embarassing...but i actually owned one..briefly..it was a '91..had one owner..an old lady..i bought it in '2003 in washington state..it had 52,000 original miles on it..immediately after buying it..i drove from washington state to alabama..straight..with no problems...the right back to washington state..with no problems..then 2 months later back to alabama..thats kinda close to 3,000 miles per trip...then drove it to and fro in alabama for a year..then it just STOPPED..lol..i abandoned it at a gas station...i think it ran so well cause of the original owner taking good care of it..and i think it died cause, i ran it into the ground..

umm..yeah thats my experience with a 1991 plymouth acclaim.
