I'm not saying all but these people saying rappers have no talent couldn't rap to a beat and with a voice the way Jay Z or Nas does. They could never hit the beat that way and instead of realizing or accepting the talent of someone that could do something that they would never be able to do a lot of them make subliminally racist comments. Like a subliminal racist comment isn't as bad as coming out and saying you're the N Word. In general it's a whole I'm better then you attitude be I am going to ignore anything you can do and I can not.

Whoa....you sound like a racist...and please stop using the "W" word, I find it offensive and racially charged.

You really shouldn't generalize - it's not just white people that say this. I have heard this from people of all colors. I think a lot of it has to do with preference and not racism (although racism can sometimes be the root cause). Many people are raised listening to country, pop or classical music (just a few examples). So when this person is exposed to rap music they don't understand the ability and talent that it takes to pull it off. The same might happen if you were suddenly asked to listen to Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash or Garth Brooks... They are masters at what they do - but if you don't understand the culture and haven't developed an ear for their type of music you would be equally turned off.

My opinion-- for the same reason black people say white people can't dance-- but wait...... this is all just an opinion of someone.... doesn't really matter what color. There is so much racism in the world today it's not just limited to black and white anymore. Now we have black AND white knocking the Mexicans-- black killing black-- white killing white-- mexicans caught up in the middle--
And I'd be willing to bet that at least half of what we all own is made in China or Korea. Or some other country's sweat shop. Who cares what color? If we would all shut the h@#% up about some racism for awhile, I bet we'd all get along better. If companies would actually hire the people best qualified for the job, rather than trying to meet their quota of how many women or minority employees they have to employ by law... the public would give credit where credit is due.... to those who deserve it- no matter if they are BLACK, WHITE, INDIAN, SPANISH, CHINESE, KOREAN, OR WHATEVER!
Race really doesn't play a part in my world much-- I like what I like, there are things I don't like- and I don't really care if someone else likes something I don't as long as it isn't shoved down my throat.
Its all about respecting the ones who EARNED respect. Not the ones that just have a personality malfunction that makes them think they 'just deserve it'.......

It's not the ability to make beats and improvisational rhymes that people think is no talent...because being able to do that most definitely takes talent.
It's the lack of creativity in the music itself...such as stealing other artists riffs to sample and so on.
Most of the music is done electronically and uses no human instrumental talent whatsoever.
L.L. Cool J. realized this in the 90s and formed a real band to back him up..
the argument is that it takes no talent to run around the stage and rap to pre recorded sampled music.
You don't have to be on your guard for a musical mistake and use your talent to recover.

I'm white and live in the south, and we can rap too...don't take it personally...I grew up in Selma during all the Martin Luther King days, and didn't even know anything was different till I was grown and out of there....had great parents...but, personally, I wouldn't judge them too much...people are just ignorant...and don't think sometimes...but, rappers have to be really intelligent, I mean look at the beat, the themes of the songs they are rapping too..the moving and grooving...us white people can rap too..but, you are right...most of the time us white folks can't come close...but, people that are that way are just closed minded people..ignore them and rap away...

I don't think that has much to do with race because I know a lot of Blacks and Latinos that can't rap and they hate on those that can. I think it becomes a race issue because the majority of rappers are Black, White people are use to being the majority in everything so maybe they feel left out or jealous.

Mostly it's cos white people,in general are wealthier and can afford guitars and cd's and expensive steros, wheras rap is a music form born of innovation thru neccessity - turning a record player into an instrument and the voice into the giutar equivalent of "wall of noise" style of production pioneered by Phil Spector "The Supremes, The Shangri-Las" - mostly 60's Girl groups).
So us whiteys just (until very recently) haven't grown up with Rap culture surrounding us.That's just one reason ,though.Maybe we just suck at Rap is the other reason! (But to give my people their propers - they do make ******' GREAT Rock 'n Roll/Pop music!)

Peace & Love to all , everywhere
No ,matter the colour of the skin you wear.

See! I can rhyme!

haha hi dr.basketballz!! =) great question! yeah i kinda hear what you're saying. its like when rock music lovers say rap sucks because its not really "music" due to the fact that they dont play their own instruments or have good vocals. or when they say all rappers talk about is b**ches and hos and having money, when not all of them talk about that kind of stuff. they obviously havent heard of HOOD rap back in the day when people were talkikng about the hardships of living life the way they knew how. rap has a deep history that most people dont know about and because of that, they dont understand it. rap is an art just like any type of music is. it may not be like typical genres, that's why its in its own league. truth be told... rappers (well in my opinion most of them anyway like talib kwali, nas, tupac, common... etc) are very talented and those saying they're not are the ones who have none. i'd like to see them in the studio try to create a hook and freestyle... i bet you they'll never be able to do it... either that or they'll talk about the typical stereotypical stuff like the girls and money and cars bulls***.

cause white people arnt very smart.
they dont get the music or like one or two songs and they sterotype the whole gener and say its crap and all that **** and then when you say this people like skeeter come and tell you a sterotype, when in the begining of your stuff you said im not saying all of the white people, which shows that most bobs not saying all, white people are hippocritical and only see what they want to see and feel like they can talk **** about you and your music, but then when you defend it they call you a sterotype or racist.
