If, by theories, you mean credible, testible scientific theories, there's precisely one, the Big Bang theory, which postulates the universe began as a singularity some 14 billion years ago. We see this in the fact that space-time is rapidly expanding. We also see this in the cosmic microwave background which demonstrates that the universe was once very nearly homogenous in nature. There are questions that remain to be worked out, regarding the exact details of the Big Bang, but in the scientific world, the theory explains enough of what we see that it's gained nearly universal acceptance.

Wikipedia has an article on alternative cosmologies to the Big Bang cosmology. Among the better-known ones was Steady State Theory, which postulates that the universe always was, and always will be. However the Steady State Theory fails to correctly predict, or adequately explain things that we've observed that are neatly explained or predicted by Big Bang theory, such as the abundances of light elements seen in the universe.

If by theory, you're also including the various creation myths espoused by ancient mythologies and modern religions, then your question would be better placed in Religion and Spirituality.

There is only one scientific theory for the origin of the universe and that is the Big Bang. It is supported by all the evidence and correct predictions have been made from the theory.

Creationism and Intelligent Design are not theories, they are not even science. The Steady State hypothesis has been shown to be wrong and its main supporter, the late Fred Hoyle, agreed it was wrong before he died.

There have been 6 differing versions of the Big Bang & there are more coming, as one is refuted another conjecture is put forward. There is another on the cards at the moment. You could look these up & write about each of them if all you want is naturalistic thinking excluding anything non material. however if you accept that there are things we have not yet discovered ( ie we are limited by our resourses, ie- eyes, ears, taste, touch ,smell.)Then you may consider creation as in the bible, or Inteligent design, ( demanding a designer) ie a Being that is not limited by our 4 dimentions (3 & time), (possibly look up string theory) I am sure there are more, but these are the ones I know of good luck.

1 It doesnt exist
2 Someone made a big mistake
3 I think I created it to piss my neighbour off
4 The story goes something like this. I was extremely thirsty and I had lung diaphramic and breathing problems so what I did was I joined the moon and the stars and everything else to a ball of string dangled them down a well and managed to reach a cooling amount of water which then interacted with my herbs and spices which I had bought off a passing gypsy and then engaged in water splitting to neutralise and balance everything in its right good and proper place.
5 Im an extremely good guesser and I guess it was always going to happen
6 I wouldnt know but I Know what, Why dont you ask Dr. Phil.

No. They're all bunk. The universe didn't have a beginning. It will NEVER have an end. It has no sides, corners, edges, center, quadrants, or any other man's thought up descriptions. It is infinite and it has always been there and always will.
Galaxies have beginnings, but just how is the question still unanswered.

There are more than six theories about the origin of the Universe.and there are different beliefs about these theories from relativity to the Big bang.
Neverthe less one belief remains more realistic. It is found in 1st chapter of Genesis.

Gen 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
