There isn't much of a market for poetry if you're looking to be published by a big house - unless your famous. If you are interested in self-publishing your own chapbook, check out http://www.lulu.com - a reputable Publish On Demand company. It's free publishing and you keep all the rights.

Poetry.com is a notorious scam site, so I would stay away from them. And spread the word.... You can read about them here:

Little literary magazines are your best (and only real honest to god) choice. That is where almost all "real" poets start. So check out a Poet's Market from the library--this will be your bible--- or buy it and start researching which magazines fit your genre. Also, buying a copy or two (back copies are usually about 3 bucks or so, and you can easily order them) helps your chances of finding a place that would be more willing to publish your type of poetry.

Be prepared for plenty of rejection. Also, I hope your poetry doesn't rhyme (unless you purposefully adhere to specific poetry forms).or incorporate lots of adjectives with no metaphors or extended metaphors....this is not what published contemporary poets produce. Don't spend too much money trying to publish your poetry. Just enough to send things out (don't enter contests). Poetry.com is a waste of time if you are serious. Also, online zines are becoming an increasingly more viable option, but don't necc. expect that to help your chances with the more "serious" literary magazines. Getting one poem published helps your chances of getting the next published. Try attending a writing workshop taught by a published poet....this will help. Good luck. Also, a warning....there is no money in this. So if that is your motive (fame as well) think about writing a paperback that could move a few copies because NO ONE reads poetry anymore except academics and a few wannable academics in the "real world".

If you just want to publish your work for you and some of your family and friends, a small press can do that for you (but you will pay all expenses).

If you're looking for places that will pay you for your poetry, check out "The 2007 Poet's Market," edited by Nancy Breen. Magazines like Poets & Writers and Writer's Digest also publish lists of various places currently accepting submissions.

You can also check online for colleges and university that publish literary reviews. Almost all of these publications accept open submissions of poetry and short stories and many will pay at least a small amount if your work is chosen for publication.

Good luck!

Congrats on starting to write in the first place at such as young age! Since this is one of your first works, I recommend establishing a name for yourself first. There is a website called CafeMocha.org that allows you to publish your creative poems online and then share them with your friends and the world--kind of like a creative social-network. This network is centered for people just like you. After people see your works on this website, publishers will come after you. Hope this helps.

I consider others who've commented that your poems are very worth of publishing. although, you clarifying your purpose is straightforward adequate for me. As for someone pretending to be you and printing nonsense, that's only a form of stalking. Legally they could be in a tricky position explaining their moves as something except mischief and trolling.

Try creating your own website. Learn a few techniques to draw people who would be very interested in what you have to say. Techniques like those outlined in detail in two (free) pdf files from this page.

Unlike EarthCall, I suggest maybe post them on your blog, my intrests. The other girl, not *^Chevy^*, has a very very good suggestion. If you wanna, make your own website, and share it your friends, they're likely to share it to their friends too. Before you know it, everyone will be a member. You are the head. Believe in yourself.
