Crampons are not used at all for climbing on rock. Crampons are spiked frames that you strap onto your feet to give you better traction when walking on ice, walking on a glacier, walking up a steep snow slope. There is no need to include crampons on your rock climbing gear list unless you plan to do mixed climbing (climbing a mountain where you must navigate ice and rock)which is more technical than climbing with ropes and belays.

I think they are used more for ice climbing, they have spikes so you can get a good grip on the ice

I think they may be those things with ibuprofen in them to ease up cramps
