Since the Reagan administration, the U.S. federal government has mandated 3 billion dollars every year for Israel. It is money that Israel can spend however it chooses.

Unlike its neighbors, Israel has no natural resources like oil and Israel is not a member of OPEC. there is no solution to a peace settlement that could be drawn up by leaders that would be effective. The peace process must be recognized by the people in the entire area. It is very complicated and needs to be worked out by everyone within the Middle East.

If the U.S. does not recognize Israel as a true friend and relinquishes support for Israel, the little nation of Israel will cease to exist. We need the Mediterranean Sea as an economic and strategic benefit to all of western civilization. And, that is too often the root of why we are hated so much. Israel is a separate nation, but, to many, Israel is the 51st state of the union.

The bottom line is not the money, but, the need for people to live in peace.

Following World War II, America supported the creation of the state of israel...big mistake. As a result, the Jews who fled Nazi Germany and reclaimed their holy land simultaneously invaded the land that had been occupied by the Palestinians for centuries. This has led to incessant fighting between the israelis and palestinians ever since. So, essentially the US government, rather than concede that we made a huge mistake over a half a century ago, we continue to "throw money at the problem" in the hopes that all issues will one day be magically resolved.

Let talk facts and figures to answer your question.........

In 1951, Congress voted to help Israel cope with the economic burdens imposed by the influx of Jewish refugees from the displaced persons camps in Europe and from the ghettos of the Arab countries. Arabs then complained the U.S. was neglecting them, though they had no interest in or use for American aid then. In 1951, Syria rejected offers of U.S. aid.

After 1957, when the United States assumed responsibility for supporting Jordan and resumed economic aid to Egypt, assistance to the Arab states soared. Also, the United States was by far the biggest contributor of aid to the Palestinians through UNRWA, a status that continues to the present.

U.S. economic grants to Israel ended in 1959. U.S. aid to Israel from then until 1985 consisted largely of loans, which Israel repaid, and surplus commodities, which Israel bought.

Between 1949 and 1973, the U.S. provided Israel with an average of about $122 million a year, a total of $3.1 billion (and actually more than $1 billion of that was loans for military equipment in 1971-73) . Prior to 1971, Israel received a total of only $277 million in military aid, all in the form of loans as credit sales. By comparison, the Arab states received nearly three times as much aid before 1971, $4.4 billion, or $170 million per year. Moreover, unlike Israel, which receives nearly all its aid from the United States, Arab nations have gotten assistance from Asia, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and the European Community.
In 1998, Israel offered to voluntarily reduce its dependence on U.S. economic aid. According to an agreement reached with the Clinton Administration and Congress, the $1.2 billion economic aid package will be reduced by $120 million each year so that it will be phased out in ten years. Though the totals are impressive, the value of assistance to Israel has been eroded by inflation. While aid levels remained constant in total dollars from 1987 until 1999, the real value steadily declined. On the other side of the coin, Israel does receive aid on more favorable terms than other nations.

Many Americans particularly those occupying sensitive positions are Jews. Thus, they support Israel because they consider them as their descendants. The money is being used by Israel to protect itself from Palestinians and their allies.

at the start it isnt bush or obama that comes to a decision who gets funds or help. it quite is congress i myself wish honestly everyone who says its timber fault for iraq could've paid interest to their government instructor. each and every ninety days the president has to ask congress to supply him funds to pay for the conflict. it quite is named the conflict powers act exceeded back throughout Vietnam. If congress doesnt allocate funds for the president then he has one hundred eighty days to get the troops out of the place ever they are homestead. Why do you lie out your butt? Are you a typical democrat? It seems as though you are. You can't tell the truth.

Israel gets a loan ONCE a year and a grant ONCE a year and never monthly. You lie just like a democrat. They can't lie for anything. You suck like every other democrat. Thank God not all democrats lie like you do!

Why don't you ask about the 2.3 billion that the US gives to the Palestinians or the near 2 billion to Egypt or the billions we give to your brother Muslim countries?

So they can buy our helicopter gunships (from the USA) to attack Palestinians in refugee camps. The citizens of israel get it, who knows what they spend it on. Wouldn't it be great if WE got money from israel? Never happen.

It has to do with Israel being under British and USA mandates. This has been the case since the partitioning that created Israel.
