Marketing is understanding customers' needs and figuring out a way to deliver a solution for those needs. That includes communicating to the customer what the product is about and how they will be benefitted by it (the purpose of advertising/marketing communications), but it's not limited to just this. Determining the best product features, the product price, the channels through which the product will be sold are also critical parts of marketing. This description defines marketing both domestically and internationally. Therefore marketing is arguably the most critical part of a business.
