Funny.. I clicked to see who the nitwit can be - who actually need a companion to go back in time with. Then I realise it was somebody who did not even mean what he said.
Sigh.. Anyway, I have been there. It was fun, and you should really try it someday. No companions required. If you are afraid, you can refer to the Back To the Future trilogy for reference. It would be safe, just that you may get Alzheimer's Disease earlier than expected, but it should be fine if you are older. (Christopher Lloyd didn't get it, but Michael J Fox had.)

I just got back from there! I didn't see YOU there. Man, was that a good time! Did you know they were giving out free ice cream? Better hurry back, though, it didn't look like it was going to last. BIG CROWD.

My time machine is built out of an 1890 outhouse... if you get in my way it will shoot brown streams of doo doo at you.... watch out time travelers.... im out there pooping around!!!
