The original pilot had Carson and Ted, and three others who were later replaced: Grooming - Sam Spector (quite young looking and small), design - Charles Daboub (looks a bit like Thom), and culture - James Hannaham (African-American).
Two of the first episodes had Blair (the bald African-American guy) doing culture instead of Jai, but the only episode Kyan wasn't in was the pilot, so I guess it's Sam.

I think your talking about Blaine. Two people were replace, one was by Jai Rodriguez and the other was replaced by Kyan.
