Ultimately the people who are against it are the kinds of people who supported the oppression and enslavement of black people in the past. Their mindset is that white history is superior to black history and so that is the only history that should be taught in schools. Many of those who oppose it are afraid that their culture will become obliterated by other cultures. But the truth is, America is for all people, white, black , asian and hispanic. No culture should take pride of place above another.

I think the thing is, Black people have been the most oppressed and that it's a way to signify that and to get us to realize the importance to where our people have come from and fought for to where we are now. Not all Black people represent a new turn, because we have those out there who commit crimes, sale drugs, and just aren't doing anything with there lives. Which is a thing with anyone, but we Black people can't deny that many of us are ashamed of some of our people this day and age. I think some people don't know how to come at the whole Black history month thing without being offensive and it triggers people to get upset. But learning about the Holocaust, or Columbus, or the 50 White presidents is fine. I love to learn about many different people and I have a diversity of friends. People should learn to be open-minded of people who do care for others, and not because of their race.

Justis, you are so right. I mean I hate having to say this but it seems like so many white people on here and out in the real world are so quick now to whine when they are "wronged" like they want to be a part of a group that faces racism or something I don't get it. Although times arent as hard as 50 years ago minorities still face a lot of prejudices... I saw one girl complaining about not being able to enter a Miss Ebony pageant, and if there was a Miss Ivory pageant it would be racist. But the big pageants dont really include minorites so they make their own pageants but people never see that kind of stuff.

Not upset but I don't understand what they want to have a history of slavery, plagiarism, violence, ignorance and affirmative action touted. The Black race is the most conquered race in history; dating back to ancient Egypt and there use of slaves, both Black and Brown. Slavery in Africa of Blacks by Blacks can be dated back as far as 7000 years ago! If you think about it, most of the Blacks in history are remember because they could dribble a ball, dance and sing like a jester or murder White people. I guess I just don't understand why they want to have a month dedicated to bringing up these things.
By the way, your question is racist against Whites; oh I forgot, only White persons are racist in your world.

i agree i see too many white people on here complaining about one month?and then crying they want their own when all we learn in school is about the white people it's annoying i don't understand what they had to go through in history that hurt their race in the past?i love black history month its the one month out of the year it's not about white people

i agree with you..but more important thing is when is everyone going to look beyoung the race issue.. and see us for what we are human..black look at us white people and hate us for what happen 200 ys ago... and white look at the black people and think they are ignorant and dumb..ever one stereotype everyone...it is all so stupid
