I would go with a Holley street eliminator high rise manifold and a Holley 650 carb. I would definitely put a set of Hooker headers and a mid range cam. Edlebrock makes good cams and intake manifolds. I would go with a Mallory ignition. It will not easy with these changes to achieve 350 HP. This will be closer to 275-300 HP. You might consider putting a 350 in and making some of these modifications to achieve the HP you are after.

If you have the stock 1.72 small valve heads on the 305 you wont get over 200HP..... you will need to get some good heads, like 1.94 or 2.02 intake..... then a 4 barrel of course, I like Rochester or Edelbrock, 750 CFM.... Edelbrock street performer intake manifold. Get headers, Hooker or Hedman..... Dual exhaust with high flow catalytic converters and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers..... for a cam I would go with a 225 duration and 425 lift...cant go too much on a 305.... with all this you should get 300HP.... and will probably blow up the 305 as well.... the stock piston rods will snap at 300HP...... You would be better getting a 350.... but see what happens with your engine. Good luck :)

OEM angle-plug heads or aftermarket alloy heads, bigger valves, ported exhaust ports, Hooker headers, bigger cam (I like Cranes but Comp Cams are good, too), MSD ignition, Offenhauser dual-port 360 intake, Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor, Milodon roller timing chain, 3000 cfm electric cooling fan from a Corvette...
Getting 350 hp out of a 5.0-liter engine is work, but you'll get close with the above components. It all comes down to getting the parts to work in sympathy with each other. A big this and a small that is not going to make it. It has to work together. If it doesn't, it's time, effort and money wasted. Do your research before you send your money.

I'd recommend edelbrock heads, and maybe a holley carb. Other mods can be done to increase performance before needing to upgrade your ignition system such as: intake manifold, cam, exhaust. Though for ignition Moroso or MSD

i use a dui HEI dist. on a 406ci 560hp , 7500 rpm, if your not going to twist it past 5000 rpm your stock HEI is just fine. just upgrade the coil an modual from MSD, but diff. change heads an cam., carb. i like the street advanger from holley.
