I need a vacuum desperately, but I don't have much money.
There seems to be a good buy on a refurbished bissell at a local shop. Do you have any advice, horror stories, wonderful anecdotes about buying refurbished products? If so, please share.

Thanks!

The unit does not come with a manufacturers waranty but does come with a one year waranty from the store.

If you need it, you need it. Try to get a feel for the repair person's skill. If you can get a guarantee, even better. It should not cost more for that. If the local shop seems to be doing well, that is also a good sign.
If it were me, I would get the cheapest 12 amp or better vac I could find new. They can be so problematic refurbished. It usually means something was really wrong with them..
Good luck...

If it comes with the warranty then there shouldn't be any problems. But I personally have not had any luck with re-furbs. Since money is the issue, have you looked at Wal*Mart. They have some good vacuums for under $70. I hope this helps you out.

I've had great success with refurbished units. Often they are units returned for little or no reason and if it comes with the manufactures warranty I would go for it!

I have bought a used vac before. Years ago. It worked well, and I even passed it along to someone who needed one at the time. As long as store has a warannty of some kind- you are A-OK.

Do not buy a reburbished vaccum!! My first two were refurbished and they broke within the first year and did not pick up well after 6 months. Just buy new!!
