Obama is the one Democrat whom most of the country doesn't know enough about to automatically vote against for president. Hillary Clinton has about as much chance of being elected president as Osama bin Laden. Al Gore and John Kerry are complete buffoons (Gore spreads Environmentalist propaganda and Kerry insults our troops).

Democrats tend to support Obama because they realize that he's the only candidate they got who can win. Of course, he'll be defeated once he starts to say what his views are. He's for Socialized Medicine and the Death Tax. Yeah, he's about as far out of touch as any other Democrat.

Obama cannot get away with passing off Socialism as small government. People are not as stupid as Socialists think they are, thus they can see through that nonsense.

EDIT: Another reason why Obama appeals so much is that he's much more moderate than other black candidates and the Democrats are a reverse-discrimination party that supports giving things to minorites because they are minorities, not because of merit.

I think that it is because he is a charismatic figure. He has a message that seems to appeal to people at this time much like Kennedy and Roosevelt.

I admit that I too am interested in him but I plan to keep an open mind for now and see how he takes the heat of the campaign.

After years of having to hear from a leader that can't get 5 1 syllable words in a row with out screwing them up. So to hear anyone who is articulate and charismatic draws a lot of attention.

1) He speaks well.
2) He looks good on TV.
3) He is a blank slate. He has no positions to attack.

What more could anyone want?

Sharp as a tack. Clean as a whistle. LOL

No seriously, he is honest and still young enough to be an idealist. Something different for this country at this time.

New face. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's a natural leader. Recall Jimmy Carter.

it seems to me that he is trying to appeal to the black voters, although a fruitless effort, its taking votes away from the true candidates, if you ask me hes a joke and should just remove himself from the thought
