how do we know these iraqi's are not undercover terrorists or have intent to harm us when they are allowed us citizenship? are there background checks being done or is it just a free ride to the states for 7k terrorists? I have nothing against Iraqis who are legitimately trying to move to a new country to start a new life but how do we know we are not endangering our citizens who pay taxes for a false sense of security?

i didn't support the fact that bush went to war over there but something had to be done after 911 (if it was indeed a terriost attack and not a ploy to go dig for oil) i don't know if invading them was the best idea but something had to be done if they were indeed responsible for 911 but no one knows really....

good point fed up. but i do think things like you were talking about such as gang violence should be handled with all these taxes we pay. i have nothing against muslims or islmaics as long as they don't try to convert people and they worship peacefully.

Geez, I can't imagine why so many Iraqis would want to leave the paradise of Iraq now that we've brought democracy over there!

Seriously, have you heard the stories of some of these people, just the tip of the iceberg of people who need to get the hell out of hell? These Iraqis are mostly translators and workers for the US Army, who risked life and limb to help our troops. Many of them and their families are now targeted by death squads for having helped the Americans. Those still working for the US fear being kidnapped and murdered as they try to go to work every day. If there are any immigrants who deserve a chance at a new life, it's these people. They've already undergone background checks and certainly won't get into the U.S. without some serious scrutiny.

Just because they're Iraqis doesn't mean they're terrorists - that way of thinking means that we're wasting American lives "liberating" a nation of terrorists. That's just ridiculous!

There are allowed the following because it is area of the quota the authorities gadgets for the middle East. Amazingly, many people do no longer do not forget that the U. S. has continually had a quota equipment in position after Ellis Island grow to be over run. How they were chosen is a secret, yet they are going to be relocated to establshed Iraqi neighborhoods throughout the country. the following ( Houston) at our medical center, seven Iraqis were equipped with prosthetic fingers ( apparently they were no longer in Saddam's social circle ), and that all of them suggested they loved the U. S. very a lot, which shocked me. i presumed our customs and religions were really offensive to them.

I agree. I could not believe our government want to allow 7,000. Iraqis in because if not it would make the USA look bad to the rest of the world. If this was for the good of the people in Iraq & the American people, then perhaps I would re-think this issue. But the article said none of the Iraquis wanted to come anyway..

why not? thousands of people come over from central america and Mexico. Many of them are violent gang members. I personally am not as afraid of terrorism as I am gang violence. More people die from violent crime in the US than from terrorist acts. I live near a Mosque and although I believe the Muslim religion is false, I am not afraid of having a mosque in my neighborhood, I am more afraid of the cheap night cllubs and the people hanging around them.
