The same people who give you gas mileage estimates on cars have found work giving song estimates on MP3 players. j/k

500 is a very optimistic number with small, very low fidelity music. If you have long songs, have them in a high bit rate ( like 320kbps) they take up more space per song and you will fit less music. What size is your mP3 player? Add up all the music file sizes and see if that is close to the size of your player

could be huge files (change from mp3 to wma) or really long songs. when they make storage estimates, it's based on a 3 minute long wma music file. also, you'll most likely never get exactly 500 songs on it, the estimates are always a little higher to entice the buyer.

the instructions might also have a typo (which is all too common on cheap chinese-made technology)

Aaah, the wonderful world of advertising...the space they claim the memory holds also has to hold the extra stuff (i.e., the words on the screen, the ability to run the music, etc. ) They don't tell you that that eats up the memory and makes your player hold less songs...

Also, what is the format? MP3 or WMA? depending on the file format you use, you will hold less or more music....

well, they prolly say that b/c its based on how big the average song file is. and another way to get more music onto ur mp3 is, if its compatible w/ wma music files, then b4 u sync using windows media player, put the lil tab that u can move down to the lowest (like 64 bitrate) in the sync options box.

You need to load smaller files of a lower quality in order to get more on the player.

it all depends on the format. if you use wma, you usually get twice as many as you would with mp3,read instructions carefully!!1
