When finances begin to get tight at clubs, two of the first things to suffer, are reserve football and any youth team initiatives. Unlike the rest of Europe where these are a priority.

Will we look back at the state of our game and wish that we had done something about it earlier?

Me.
I bet I earn thousands more than you pal, in the city, you hard up boy.

At least I put my name and who I support, unlike you. Do you support your local team? No.

Live in a crap area do you, ashamed of it? I bet you are a gloryseeker?

Back to school on Monday is it, to learn how to answer a question properly?

Football, just a hobby? 40 years at Upton Park, 20 years going home and away to all games. 30 years over Essex, how often do you go to either? I Played to a fairly high standard too, have you?

At least West Ham have had the loyalist and hardest supporters in the country. I bet you didn't come down the East End in the 70's and 80's? The good old days.

Andy.

I don't think it's fair to say Scotland produce no home talent. They're 20th in FIFA rankings, which is not bad for a country with only two major teams.

English teams need to drastically change the structure of their teams and involve more British talent. However the major teams, Chelsea/Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal, are more concerned about club glory than country glory. With foreign owners and managers coming in, why should they care about the state of the national English side. I just hope that with new UEFA regulations coming in, where each team must have at least 8 home-grown players in their squad, then more talented British footballers will develop.

This is already the state of English football. Sir Alex Ferguson has already made it clear that the academy structure is broken beyond repair. Our current team has a backbone of players from this sort of structure. After these...who????

Some of us saw this happening when the Premiership started. The selling of football to Murdoch was the first nail in the coffin.
The best years of the Premier league are already over. Decline and criminality are all that lay ahead.

Scotland have a far easier road to travel than England. At least they have never had ideas above their station!...apart from 1978 of course!!! lol.

I think than the Scotish national team is even better than the English one which has to be constructed. It is trus that it seems that there is a lack of structure to create young players in England even if their ligue makes a lot of money.

A lot of European clubs : Ajax Amsterdam (Seedorf, Berkamp, Van Basten, Cruijff), Sevilla, Nantes, Cannes (Vieira, Zidane, Frey, Luccin, Micoud come from Cannes), Palermo, Auxerre, Madrid, produce footballplayers. They have got a kind of "footballschool" program which purpose is to detect the young talented. It's precisely where Benitez or Wenger find their young and "cheap" talented players.

There is talent, but it seems like there's not as much as years ago. I think the youth teams should be better financed. Get top quality coaching in to teach fundamentals. Let's hope England doesn't fall farther behind the rest of Europe.

The thing I don't understand is if teams in England take on players from spain and italy and teams in Italy and spain take on players for Argentina and brazil, why don't any foreign countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal, German, France) want to bring in young english talent.

Maybe your kids are just hopeless and that's why no one gives them a chance.

End up? Ho, ho. You're already there. As for managers - tee, hee. Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger, Rafa, etc., etc. Do the words 'glasshouses', 'stones' and 'throw' ring any bells? And what are you on, talking about Europe? Spanish league is full of Mickey Mouse teams full of foreigners as well.

To fix the problem we should transfer Arsenal to the French League or Africas Leagues..

Then set a rule of a maximum amount of foreign players per englishmen in the squad
