Because adults are teaching this to their children. What is happening is the actions of kids today have evolved into a very disturbing pathological trend. Certainly rage and conflict have always apart of growing up. But now there emerges such hostility, emanating from deep unresolved psychological psychosis, that children can be so bold as to wantonly obtain a fire arm and go into a school or a crowded mall and randomly slaughter innocent people.
Another aspect is, as children, this is where adults got their start and some never out grew the desire to be cruel. Now that they have become adults they are unhampered by the limitations (if there still are any) of being a child. They have graduated from being children and are now let loose on the world where their methods of meanness are even more profound and the means of practicing such cruelty are ever more so abundant. Welcome to the brave new world.

I think cruel adults usually started out as cruel children whose cruel behavior was tolerated or minimized. When we talk about how cruel children can be we are usually referring to the cruelty they inflict on other children. Too often the impact of that behavior on it's target is minimized and chalked up to children just being children.

While it's true that adults can definitely be cruel, and I've had many personal experiences with that, adults, usually, or sometimes have learned proper manners and societal expectations, wjhile children lack inhibition and can say anything they think.

People can be hypocrites. They don't want to realize the faults they have in themselves, so they resort to pointing out the faults of others.
