As a teacher I can assure you that the best place to sit in a classroom is up to the front, first line of seat since the students get really involved with the class...they are part of the interaction that takes place in the classroom whereas the students seating in the back are just there...lurking in the dark. They become very passive.

For me it depends , whether i care and understand the subject i sit in front and if i don't like the professor and hate the subject i kind sit in the middle for attendance and couldn't be easy to see me talking ! ( no one is attending much )
Believe me their eyes are on the back first then the 1st seats are for the genius.

I like to sit at the front so I don't miss anything the teacher is saying and I can see clearly on the board

I usually started in about the middle. After a week or so the teacher either moved me to the front to force my participation or to the back so he/she wouldn't have to deal with me.

Always sit in the front row.
It makes seeing the board easier.

In the front. You are focused on the professor, not everything going on around the room.

It doesn't matter to me as long as I have an escape route. I always like to have easy access to the door. It's not just for an emergency; if I'm ready to leave I don't want to wait for everyone else in the row to pack up their stuff.

Front row to the right of the teacher because that is where he/she usually looks.
