I'm attending a model UN conference in a few weeks, if anyone has attended one before, do you have any advice? I'm trying to be as informed as possible from my country's perspective, but other than that, is there anything I can do to prepare myself? I'm representing Pakistan on ECOSOC.
I'm looking forward to it. ^^

Thanks, all.

Model United Nations is very exciting...All you can do to prepare for the conference is to know your country's stance (which you already do) and stay in character of that state during the whole conference by voting the way you believe your country would vote. Practice speaking on your topics and position would help too. Don't fret about it too much...I did and there was no need for it :), I recently attended a conference last November, I was on the legal committee. Good luck and have the time of your life.

the free trip to ny was the best part about the whole experience. but other than that yeah just stay in character and keep in mind that people will possibly know more about your country than you do because some people are obessed with mun and are getting a grade while they are there. Also do not step out of the boundry of your country such as trying to become head of your little sector of the United Nations which I would be the middle east

Yea I did this in highschool also and it was great fun. That was quite a few years ago though I would imagine in today's world it would be pretty crazy.
Oddly enough my group was representing Iran. me and some friends got pretty drunk the night before and my friend got up and gave a speech in one of the model UN conferences it was so funny... was back in they day of those posters and tshirts saying the ayatollah is a rock and rolla and stuff like that. he was wearin one of those and raving about people molesting goats.

Anyway silliness and seriousness both it was alot of fun.
