I'm an American that escaped to the UK over three years ago. No one country should be allowed to run the world like the US does. The people can't do a thing to stop it. The Fascists in Washington have way too much power.

Its a complete national embarrassment. Our political parties only oppose wars that the other started, instead of opposing them on principle. Empire building caused 9-11 and yet we respond by trying to conquer the Middle East for the American Empire. That was completely moronic. However, we cannot afford to impeach that buffoon Bush. Dick Cheney or Nancy Pelosi would be far worse.

Our country is the best nation on the planet, because we've done a fairly good job of resisting Communism/Socialism, Gun Control (meaning Victim Disarmament), Socialized Medicine and other mistakes made by the rest of the world. We haven't signed that Kyoto nonsense.

If only we could ditch our military bases and have Congress spend its time repealing the idiotic laws of past administrations (16th Amendment, Federal Reserve Act, New Deal, Great Society, Campaign Finance, Patriot Act, Protectionism, Military Commissions Torture Legalisation, Internet Gambling Ban; the list of Federal Government stupidities go on and on), then we'd fix our country's problems.

Personally I think the United States has it's fingers in WAY too many pies. Nothing would make me happier than to cut off ALL foreign aid, close down all foreign military bases, and take the BILLIONS this country spends and give it back to the taxpayers. The problem is that there are a LOT of people who believe that because the United States is the richest and most powerful country in the world, that it's our obligation to feed the hungry, cure diseases, help tsunami victims, and yes.....be the world police. But like I said, I can think of a LOT of things we could spend the money on here in the US instead of foreign aid and policing the world.

Is this how the rest of the world sees us?

How sad!

Actually, there's an old expression we are accustomed to: "When in Rome, do as the Romans."

Here, in the United States, instead of new arrivals trying to blend in with the American culture, and doing as the Americans, they stick to the cultures of their homeland.

It is nice though, because in one city block we have a choice between pizza, chop suey, sushi, tamales, and yes, even cheese burgers and French fries.

As far as being the world police, I can't speak for others and how they act when they are outside our borders.

I would not be proud of any such action.

If you are referring to this God-Awful war in Iraq, and the other wars worldwide that we are spear-heading, war is murder and absolutely nothing to be prideful of.

It only means that our leaders have have lost the art of diplomacy.

No. It sucks. I wish other countries would just straighten up by themselves. But, it's not going to happen anytime soon.
But, I can't think of any other country I would want to 'police' the world.

We are the World Police only because most countries aren't strong enough to stand up for themselves.

NO, I am not happy with the fact the America is so controling and strangling on the world. We should go back to isolationism, where AMERICA was involved with AMERICA, not AMERICA and IRAN, or AMERICA and NORTH KOREA, just AMERICA and AMERICA.

yup! my interests are being taken care of.

besides we wouldn't have to police the world if the UN would grow some balls, or better yet, if nations could seem to take care of themselves.

If America were the world police seems like we would be in Mexico routing out the drug cartel. Since you are illegal our affairs are our business
