You are the ones who should be explaining yourselves.
Liberals are in this, as in many things, traditionalists.
Throughout most of human history, people could not tell when life began, so they picked two times: 1. "quickening" - when the baby can be felt to move; and 2. birth, when you at last have before you a determinate human being of determinate sex.
Although science has pushed the clock back we still cannot as a practical matter determine the moment of conception and there are even different views as to how to define that conception has taken place (the medical view and the papal view). You can’t protect what you dont know exists. Among the many possible protections we don’t give fetuses is the status of citizens.
Traditionally pregnancy has been considered a private matter and only birth worth a public announcement and recording.
No action is required to protect an unborn child, except to ensure that the mother is happy, comfortable, and well-fed. We rather sadly fall down on the job here, don't you think?
I wonder why people who oppose abortion on moral grounds do not also oppose in vitro fertilization, inasmuch as that practice, which some could say is interfering with God's will (but hardly ever do), is known to result in many more spontaneous abortions than natural conception.
So, what is novel is not liberals caring more about the born than the unborn, but those who seem to care more about the unborn.

Because liberals don't believe that the life of an unborn child is as important as those already born. They also don't believe in the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" nor do they believe in morals - period. They appease those who favor killing the unborn. They don't consider the unborn to be 'living' yet because they have yet to enter the world, so they favor killing them BEFORE they are born.

The born has feelings and it's actual life. Why do conservatives care more about the unborn than the born?

Ignoring the liberal baiting/smearing, which has nothing to do with your question, I will amend your question to:
Why are the born more important than the unborn?
And I will answer that question.
Because the born contribute to society. The unborn do not.

The 'unborn' as you say (AKA a cluster of cells with no mind of its own) can, if killed (AKA removed and transplanted) can help (AKA save the life of a person shirvelling up and in constant pain because of a genetic disorder) living people with minds (AKA the world).

Since you like stereotyping people, here's a good stereotype of Republicans for you.
Are all Republican politicians crooks?
Yet another one was involved in shady deals involving bribe money while he was in Congress:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070216/ap_o...
CARSON CITY, Nev. - The FBI is investigating whether Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons failed to properly report gifts or payments from a software company that was awarded secret military contracts when he was in Congress.
...
A federal law enforcement official confirmed the FBI probe Thursday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, said the inquiry is focusing on what role Gibbons played in awarding contracts to entrapped Technologies LLC and whether he received any gifts in exchange.
====
There's almost no week when at least one of these crooks is not caught red-handed.
Is the GOP nothing but a party of crooks followed by a crowd of ignorant, low-IQ people?
Do you get my point on stereotyping people yet ? It is pretty silly, isn't it?

The correct question is, "why do conservatives think life begins at conception and ends at birth?"
Why aren't health care for children, Head Start, free prenatal care for mothers, free "well baby" doctor visits etc etc etc on the top of every Conservative's list of Must Pass legislation?
