I dont want to hear "The Dead Sea Scrolls" or anything of that nature.. I am actually looking for the first true record of a time in history. Something actually dated like Ex: Jan. 1, 1152.

An early one, but not the very earliest, is the Rosetta Stone (the real one, not the language software). It was carved in 196 BC and the text has enough detail to determine the exact day:

"In the reign of the new king . . . in the ninth year . . . on the fourth of the month Xanicus . . ."

Dated Chinese records of solar eclipses have been converted to modern dates on the second site below. The oldest I could see is this one:

Jul 17, 709 BC: "Duke Huan, 3rd year, 7th month, day jen-ch'en, the first day. The Sun was eclipsed and it was total." (Ch'un-ch'iu)

But the web page suggests that there might be others as far back as 1050 BC.

I don't know what artifact it would be, but it would be from the Sumerian culture because they had invented the cuneiform. But most artifacts aren't dated by the creator so your question is sort of void. maybe the code of hammurabi as far as written text
