It wasn't that great of a movie. Disney didn't put as much money and effort into it as they should have. "Star Wars" and "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" blew it out of the water on the special effects alone. Granted, "The Black Hole" was more science based than the other two, but the special effects just didn't seem that special.

The story was okay though, but definitely needs to be updated and reworked a bit.. Does it deserve to be remade? That is tough and before answering you have to consider the merrits of other recent re-makes. How do you feel about the new "King Kong", "Planet Of The Apes" and "War Of The Worlds" movies?

Personally, I think that "Black Hole" should be left alone for a while. Why mess up a semi-decent thing?

I imagine they would probably ruin it. Just like 99% of the remakes already made. They would focus on special effects, but like any good movie (I loved it as a kid!), it was the characters that made the film. Remakes are made because they are much easier to profit off of (built-in audience, story is already written, character's personalities formed). I think it is lazy filmmaking and will never pay to see a remake again (I did like King Kong though)

So when do the remakes of the remakes begin?

Yeah Im sure it wouldnt be as good but Id like to see one. Be tough to top that Maximillion as a evil robot.

King Kong was another one that they focused to much on special effects. It was a good movie but nothing like the original.

Yeah, I agree with the first responder. Better to leave well enough alone.
