It's about Abramhoff, Foley, Haggard, the Bush administrations incompetence and it's about the Republics doing nothing for six years while our future is being flushed down the toilet.

Many Republicans now understand their party has imploded. It once was a party where liberal or conservative ideas could be applied to the smallest unit of governement. As the party was hijacked by the religious right, those people wanted their ideas to be applied to ALL the states. This concept is completely Democratic. Traditional Republicans were insulted and as a result defected. Traditional Republicans are now called moderates. Remember you can have a conservative Democrat (South), too. And yes, the U.S. is living worse than when Bill Clinton was president.

Wow.. lots of questions. Okay, yes, Nagin should share in the responsibility. However, when the head of FEMA can't get off his can to get help for what it coming, he needs to go. Bush dropped the ball because he hired this idiot who had absolutely no qualifications, and he did nothing either, until two days after it hit.
The war in Iraq is only one issue that the republicans have failed on. Foreign policy from this administration in general has failed in all aspects. Because of this, we have become one of the most hated and disrespected countries in the world.
Democrats attacked the handling of the war... yes, they want to see the troops removed as soon as possible, but there is a way to do this. Example is that now Bush is trying to convince everyone that Iran is giving weapons to insurgents. The military commanders say there is no proof, but Bush is still trying to sell that theory. Weapons of mass destruction were touted as the big reason for invading Iraq. Yet there was never any evidence that they existed.
The economy is yet another reason. Republicans sat on their arrogant butts and touted a strong economy while thousands of people in this country lost their jobs. The big three auto makers have all had job cuts within the past 18 months and ford is in serious trouble. Chrysler is so bad, that they are closing yet another plant. Further, GM may now buy Chrysler.
The stock market was strong under Clinton. The economy was strong under Clinton. The budget was balanced under Clinton. The right wingers can say what they will about Clinton, and no doubt, he was an embarrassment, but we were better off than we are now.
Republicans lost because they were out of touch with reality and with their constituents. Bush is unbending on his policies and even republicans are moving away from him.
People have lost faith in the republican party and can see that its time for a change.

Stop calling Democrats liberals. You do not know what you are talking about. The Republicans lost control of Congress last year because the people of each area voted for a Democrat. They lost control because they supported a war that the people are against. They lost control because the balance of power went to an entire party causing all kinds of misdeeds to occur. The people do not trust the Republicans to control all of Congress and the Presidency. And, if a bad canidate is selected to be the nomininee lets hope that individual does not get voted in.

Bush lost because he lost touch with the Conservatives - of which I am one.
My view: reduce government spending and government intervention in our lives.
Bush's actions: increase federal spending to record levels and user the Patriot Act to wiretap citizens.
My view: lower taxes on all Americans
Bush's actions: lower taxes... for a little while. That expiration date really struck me as a way to force Conservatives to have to re-elect the Republicans cyclically. And that rubbed me the wrong way.
My view: stop caring about what someone else does in their bedroom and start caring about eliminating the marriage penalty and working to reduce the epidemic of divorce and single parents thru education and a return to core values.
Bush's view: Ban gay marriage.
My view: if you're going to fight a war - fight. Don't pretend to be a liberator. Don't pretend that you will be seen as a friend rather than an occupier. Fight. And don't lie to yourself or others about what you're fighting for. And, for the record, I don't believe in such a thing as 'civilians' during a war.
Bush's view: seems to waiver between paranoia and a God complex. Either everyone is out to get him, or everyone will welcome him with open arms. Naive.
My views are Conservative. So what the heck is Bush? And why should I vote for his party? That's why the Republicans lost.

Politics tends to be cyclical. Simply put, you win some and you lose some.
I think that Iraq was the major reason why Republicans lost control and it simply didn't matter that the Democrats don't have a plan. The only thing that mattered to the voters who effectively switched control was that they had lost faith in Bush and they voted for (in a word reminiscent of 1992) "change."

They pissed off their base. Although there was a huge groundswell against the Pubbies because of the war, it wasn't going to harm them because the war was a national issue, while congress is a local office and is more affected by local issues.
Illegal immigration stances killed the Republican party last year by inducing voter apathy amongst their base. Much like if there was a pro-life insurgency in the Democratic party and the pro-choice wing of the Democrats stayed home.

it really is continuously complicated to get issues performed even as Congress is of one celebration and the President is of the different. for this reason, that's complicated to get issues performed even as the President is a Republican, because he has the skill to veto charges. To overturn a presidential veto, there desires to be a minimum of two/3s in pick of overturning it. The Democrats do not have an important form of representatives/ senators over the Republicans. Many are making use of the monetary gadget to provide Congress a nasty grade. that's only how the monetary gadget works. once you've an excellent monetary gadget, you may anticipate a nasty monetary gadget ultimately. bear in mind, the monetary gadget replaced into particularly sturdy only many years in the past; and this has occurred in the previous, inspite of which celebration replaced into on precise of issues. My advice: Take some economics and authorities instructions, that way you learn something sensible and performance more desirable sensible understanding to how issues artwork.

Bush has us in Iraq..and I am Conservative. The people are dissatisfied and Bush is leading the Republican parade. Plain and simple..they lost because they are in the same party, whether or not they deserve the blame. They sit at the same table and the voters will presume to blame them all. When people are not happy one of the ways they express it is at the ballot box. The saying "Birds of a feather" very definitely shows up there. Our standard of living might be or not be any worse than with BC, it is our PERCEPTION of our standard of living. And that is a very key component to political advertising and soundbites.

Katrina had very little to do with it. Definitely the war in Iraq and not so much the economy as having to pay an "arm and a leg" for reasonable health-care unless you're an illegal or a pregnant un-wed mother.
