The first location (36 N, 31 E) is in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea south of Turkey. This is a boundary (belt?) between the African and European tectonic plates. Just to the SE is the Arabian plate.

The second location (34N 140 E) is just SE of Tokyo Japan, and is a subduction zone of the Pacific plate under the Asian plate.

Try looking up these locations on a map.

Belts? I don't know about that -- what kind of belts?
