Che Guevara(yes I'm a huge fan), was a freedom fighter that fought against corrupt and ruthless 3rd world dictators.

How should Americans honor this great hero?

Yes, and they should learn a thing or two about him. I am a huge fan and i asked that question earlier about him just to see how many people REALLY knew about him and his cause. I was actually surprised to see how many people did their homework...and then of course you stil have your shallow hard-nosed conservatives with their usual fascist comments....but, yes to answer your question, we should honor him as the hero of the poor. Viva el CHE! Hasta la Victoria Siempre!

The Motorcycle Diaries is a great rental about his travels in South America as a young man.

Another unproven(but how would you prove it) theory says that Castro had Bolivian rebels stand down because Che had become disillusioned with Castro and allowed him to be unprotected, killed.

Honor him? Hero? I guess you are entitled to your opinion......

Guevara became a leader among the rebels, a Comandante (English translation: Major), respected by his comrades in arms for his courage and military prowess,[16] and feared for what some have described as ruthlessness: He was responsible for the execution of many men accused of being informers, deserters or spies. In the final days of December 1958, he directed his "suicide squad" (which undertook the most dangerous tasks in the rebel army)[17] in the attack on Santa Clara that turned out to be one of the decisive events of the revolution, although the bloody series of ambushes first during la ofensiva in the heights of the Sierra Maestra, then at Guisa, and the whole Cauto Plains campaign that followed probably had more military significance.[

Do it on an individual basis because not everyone celebrates the life of a murdering communist.

"For the first year of Castro's glorious revolution Che Guevara was his main executioner – a combination Beria and Himmler, with a major exception: Che's slaughter of (bound and gagged) Cubans (Che was himself an Argentine) exceeded Heinrich Himmler's prewar slaughter of Germans – to scale, that is."

I choose to show my admiration for Che in the purchase of a cool black t-shirt w/his mug in red. The majority of Americans and others have little idea that Che was sold out by Fidel after the revolution in Cuba. By wearing his image on a t-shirt, I'm consistently asked about him. At that point I can educate those wanting to learn more.

If you were a fan you would know the truth and not call him a hero. I guess you are on here just to get attention. CHe has been gone a long time, give it a break.

As a professional liberal reporter, I feel we should honor Che by giving our nation over to socialism. Down with the mom and pop businesses who have made our nation what it is. Up with the unions that are driving our corporations to Mexico. Kudos.

American's shouldn't. if you want to, that's up to you.and you may consider him a hero. i don't.

why don't you go to visit his grave, and honor him there? and you can stay there, or hey go to Cuba or Venezuela since they're communist countries or soon will be. that way we can all be happy.
