I marvel at the lunacy of the political/social right in the U.S. Give them a source outside of the U.S. and they immediately dismiss it as unimportant or impartial or biased because it's coming from "them". And that's what the right is usually about, "us" and "them".

The thing is, even "us" is "them". The Democrats, the Mexican Americans, the blacks, anyone who isn't a fundie Christian...

After you tally it all up, there's about 6.4 Billion of "them" and about 100 million of "us".

No, Putin has it right. The whole world knows he has it right. Most AMERICANS know he has it right. The only ones who can't seem to grasp it... or simply have no intention of grasping it... are right-wing Republicans.

You know, listening to Republicans is a truly mind-numbing experience. It's like listening to a very bad recording that says the same unfounded nonsense over and over, and I guess the rational is if they say it enough times in enough places someone will believe it. Or maybe they're just trying to re-enforce what it is they believe. At any rate, there's clearly no devotion to what's true, there's no respect for the objective evidences, there's no regard for anything but the rightwing propaganda droning on in the background.

I don't know what has to happen before reality starts to sink in for these folks, but I fear it will be far more and far different than anything they're prepared for.

Ummmm... and we should be listening to this "Vladimir, President of Russia" why? Because HIS people are safe, happy and free? Hmmm. Perhaps you should go check it out. Be sure to get back to us and let us know if he 's right once you have experienced life as a citizen in his country. Best of luck to you - we won't wait up.

PS: This from Wiki seems noteworthy:

Russia has struggled in its efforts to build a democratic political system and a market economy to replace the strict centralized social, political, and economic controls of the Soviet era. Corruption has run rampant, and the Yeltsin government conspired with insiders to loot countless billions in cash and assets from the State. Under Vladimir Putin, political freedom has waned considerably.
After the breakup of the Soviet Union, Russia went from a superpower to a great power.[2] Russia is considered the Soviet Union's successor state in diplomatic matters (see Russia's membership in the United Nations) and is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. It is also one of the five recognized nuclear weapons states and POSSESSES THE WORLD'S LARGEST STOCKPILE OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION (see Russia and weapons of mass destruction).

President Bush didn't create this dangerous world, he is merely responding to it. Whether you agree with his response is another matter.

It's really hard to say. On one hand, the wars in the middle east have increased the terrorism in the region. On the other hand however, the wars have confined terrorism (for the most part) to that region.

There hasn't been another embassy bombing, 9/11, or Madrid train bomb since then. There were the London train bombs, but those were homegrown terrorists.

I hope you all remember that, after 9/11, the whole world was with us. The whole world wanted to help us and would have been willing to do just about anything to help us deliver justice to those who committed the heinous acts. I hope you all remember foreigners saying "we are all Americans now." They felt a heartfelt sympathy for our people and comradery with us as we had been wronged in a manner of unprecedented violence. Moderate muslims around the world condemned the culprits' actions and tried to distance themselves from the extreme wing of violence in their own faith. They recognized evil when they saw it.

Just over five years later, we are now the scourge of the planet. People from other countries fear us. They look at our actions and policies over the past five years and tremble with anger at how we have abused the trust they placed in us. They see us starting wars for false (not mistaken) reasons and being the perpetrators, not the victims of, unspeakable violence. They see us going after the oil in Iraq and Iran and who knows where else (Venezuela?) instead of going after those who supposedly carried out those dastardly deeds five years ago.

It is not our troops that did these things. It is not the liberals writing the script. It is not the peace movement who are guilty of atrocities. It is not the American people who have turned what was the world's collective goodwill towards us into hatred.

Let there be no mistake about this - it was this president and his administration. It was the corporate war profiteers who are benefiting from unmentionable pain and suffering.
It was the Secrtary of Defense who - like many of this administration's supporters - justified torturing people of different skin color and faith by calling them terrorists, insurgents and killers. You should know very well by now who is responsible for our country becoming the object of much ire around the world. It was these people of no conscience who claim to have God on their side. It was these people who have no desire for peace and no use for forgiveness.

Which is why I have come to this conclusion. 9/11 was this administration's responsibility (it was on their watch, after all, after receiving repeated warnings) as will be any future acts of terrorism against our citizens. All of us in this country have been enjoying the good life for the past couple of hundred years but, if things get worse here as they realistically could, you must remember who did this to us. Do not believe our corporate media any longer. Believe your own eyes and ears. Trust what your hearts tell you.

We can no longer tolerate the violent, militaristic culture that has consumed our country over the past sixty years. We must do something to stop it NOW.

i imagine its because people have become so stuck up in attempting to make it in this out of whack international that they are forgetting the flaws that fairly count number, inclusive of its tremendous to paintings 2 jobs to deliver in the money =yet wheres your children on the instantaneous? What about your mate who feels on my own and neglected.also because people do no longer honor people, you listen about previous people being killed or overwhelmed, children being harm as if they did not count number.at the same time as people end being concerned about people it is going to grow to be a jungle without pity and that makes it a detrimental position.

not only that ... but americans should consider that if other world powers percieve us as too much of an agressive threat then they may devise a plan to take us out .... so bush could actually be placing americans in jeopardy instead of making them safer with his so-called war on terror ...
