It is the rear quarter panel window. I'm thinking cardboard and duct tape, but am interested in any other simple/creative ideas.

I helped my neighbor with this.

We used CLEAR packing tape.. like the type you buy at Office Depot to use on boxes.

We wasted like 3 rolls but we covered the ENTIRE window and it was transparent.

Garbage bags won't let u see through them and the plexiglass is a cool idea but I wouldn't even know how to begin with THAT.

If you know you cant get the glass for a while, try this... trace the window opening onto cardboard and then cut the cardboard out. Make sure it fits nicely, then take that cardboard cutout to a local hardware shop and ask for some sheet plexiglass (a form of plastic) You can then cut that plexiglass to size, and place in the window area, with a decent amount of duct tape to secure it. That will rattle and flutter far less than bags will, and will last a bit longer too. Just make sure to secure it properly, as wind vibration could take it out if not in tight.
Good luck.

As said before, duct tape and garbage bag or cardboard. I used duct tape over cardboard, duct tape the whole window, not just the edges, to keep the cardboard dry. It's a little better insulation against the cold than a garbage bag.

Thick clear bin bags taped on the inside should do the trick as long as its only for a couple of days

would a piece of plexi Glass work?
guess it depends on what sz(thickness)
Glass companies will have this and also cut to your dimensions.and then a type of sealer (epoxy or silicone)
If you are talking really temporary & quick , a plastic bag worked for me till I got to the junkyard to buy another one.
