It is very violent and there is a lot of swearing. I don't remember any animal killings. I don't like violent movies myself but I must say that despite the violence, it's an excellent movie.

Well it is very violent, but you need to watch the movie for what it is, despite the violence I LOVED the movie. And no it has no animal killings, but it might be the best movie of 06.

The Departed is EXTREMELY violent and bloody but I do not recall any animal killings.

No animals, just people. And if violence isn't your thing, maybe you should skip the gangster films altogether. Even the Godfather has a lot of violence in it.
I personally prefer movie violence. Much better than real violence.

It's somewhat violent. I don't recall them showing any nonhuman animals being killed.

I'd say it's pretty violent.
Mostly along the lines of street brawls and gun fights. I've seen worse though.
