I just wonder if anyone has problems with the Merina. I have had it in since April 2004. I spotted for a month when it was first inserted and then I have not had a period since. In November of 2006 My husband and I were having sex and I began to bleed and have cramping. I went to the doctor's the next day and she said the Merina was still in place and tested me for any STD's. They all came back negative. Next they did an ultrasound because I used to have a cyst, however that was dissolved. She said the only explanation was that my husband must have hit my cervix. Now after we have sex I have constant cramping nad I feel very bloated. i just wonder if this is related to the Merina or if anyone has a clue as to what could be wrong?????

have had mine in for 2 years now, and have had spotting, but no real periods scince it was in place. I seem to spot alot after having sex too. I have had alot of weight gain with it though. There used to be a mesage board on merina's web site, and there were many woman who did have many problems with them, but they do not have the mesage board any longer. I have been very concered just like you, but have not had good answers at this point so I just deal with the spotting.

There is nothing wrong. I have had the Merina IUD since March 2004 and I have the same thing. Although the doctors will tell you that you will normally not have a period while you have the IUD, you can and its usually in the form of spotting. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Did the doctor tell you how to check to see if it is still in? You will have to feel inside the vagina for the strings, I usually get my husband to check for me. Nasty huh?

I have Mirena and I haven't had any problems with it. If it was me I would see another Dr for a second opinion.
