Black is also a color & not a race. There are many different black races just as there are white races. Yes, I think a White History month would be good also. I am Cherokee/choctaw with a bit of English & Welsh thrown in just in case anyone thinks I'm being racist. You know I think White History Month wouldn't be a bad idea if it were taught correctly. Perhaps it would help us all to understand why whites have done & continue to do some of the things they have done. I know some of the answers but not all. Most of it is because they didn't know any better. The known world (at that time) all felt that way. Blacks, American Indians, anyone with darker skin tones were believed to be more of an animal than a man/woman. They even believed that dark-skinnned folks didn't feel pain/emotions like they did. The more scared they were that some were just as smart & sophisticated as they were, the worse they behaved toward those who were different. There is not a race of people anywhere that doesn't like to think theirs is the best of all.

There is a petition being circulated on the Web that is addressed to “All Whites.” It has been signed by thousands of people, and reads in part: “We believe that if African Americans and now Hispanics can have their history month for their heritage, why can’t the White Americans have White history month?

Here is the entire article.

There is a National Latin heritage month though.. I believe its in September. And Native American heritage is in November. I don't know about "white history month".

umm maybe it's because we are the reason there used 2 be slavery, a lot of people who try 2 rule most of the countries are white, and because a lot of terrorists are white...........wow so much 2 celebrate........i know lets start by bringing back slavery and worshiping Hitler...........jk but seriously when you think about it white people have kinda caused a lot of problems in the past......i feel sorta ashamed 2 be white because of that........(sorry if i offended anybody when i said lets bring back slavery and worship Hitler i was only joking and didn't mean to)

White history is generally taught in schools anyway. Don't knock a minority for having their own time to celebrate achivements. I am white and not at all threatened by Black History Month. Perhaps we could all learn something from it, such as tolerance.

Because there is no "white". There's Irish, Scottish, Polish, German, etc, and there are plenty of holidays to celebrate those heritages!
