The soap opera _Santa_Barbara_ was originally broadcast over NBC from 1984 to 1993. It replaced the _Match_Game/Hollywood_Squares_Hour_ on NBC's afternoon schedule, and was replaced by Reg Grundy's adaptations of _Scrabble_ and _Scattergories_. It concerned the wealthy Capwells and other families in Santa Barbara, California.

Ronald and Nancy Reagan were among the many fans of _Santa_Barbara_. One of the show's recurring performers, Alexa Hamilton, had previously starred in _The_Invisible_Woman_, an unsold pilot that combined elements of comedy and science fiction.

I watched every episode. I loved loved loved it. When it was cancelled, I vowed to never watch another soap and I don't. It was just so good.As far as I know, it has never been rebroadcasted since its cancellation and isn't available anywhere on DVD. My favorites were Eden and Cruz and Julia and Mason. There are quite a few websites about it if you take the time to search.

They don't play the re-runs here. I used to love that soap.(Toronto, Canada). When it came off the air, (years ago!), it never came back.
