I want to write a program which will automate tasks on a website and be able to adapt to different scenarios the website might put up. What is the best programming language to do this in? I have read a little about ActiveX, but I don't understand much of it. Is there a simpler way to do what I want?

Unfortunately you are going to have to be way more specific.

- What are the tasks you wish to automate?
- In what ways do you expect the web site to adapt?
- What scenarios are you thinking of that you will want the site to adapt to?
- What is the purpose of the web site?

not sure what you want to do, but might need to learn programming for that or pay someone who knows. You see you can't do what you want just like that. for instance javascript is only for local web browsers where asp, vbscript and other languages are meant to work only on servers.
