Colloidal silver is extremely dangerous, and causes a permanent condition to the skin called argyria. Go to my blog on Yahoo 360.
Colloidal silver just is not worth the risk especially when there are effective alternatives that do not subkect you to unnecessary risk.

RE:
Colloidal Silver and Urinary Tract Infections, what dosage?
I've been reading alot about the antibacterial properties that silver has, I bought a bottle, but the recommended usage is 2tbsp per day FOR NO MORE THAN 10 CONTINUOUS DAYS. However, I have not found the dosage for when treating UTI. A lot of women seemed to take it everyday, but is that...

Colloidal Silver in the proper doses is safe and is very good for boosting the immune system. If you take too much, it could turn your skin gray/blue over time, so you should stick with the recommended dosage. That being said, were in that much pain after the Silver, or was it from the infection to start with? If it was an allergic reaction, I would stay away from it, but that is rare. Anyway, if you are commonly getting UT and yeast infections, I'm willing to bet you've been on antibiotics probably a couple times and that's likely what is causing them to come back. Antibiotics are very well known for killing not only the bad bacteria, but also the good bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract, which also helps to keep yeast at bay. So when the good bacteria is killed off, it's very common for people to get reoccurring yeast infections and the really bad cases commonly get UTIs as well. I would recommend getting on a good probiotic (at least 3-5 billion organisms from 4-6 strains, but you would probably benefit more from a higher number of organisms at first), plus taking Cranberry on a daily basis can help prevent the UTIs in addition. Good luck and I hope I helped! [edit]: Malik is NOT a doctor... that is just spam for his sales website.

Make a pot of tea a day of Zea Mays. (corn silk tea.) It has served me better than antibiotics. Take a 1" diameter ball of the tea and brew it in boiling hot water until it is cool enough to drink. It is virtually tasteless and a pot should be drunk during the day for 2 weeks.
If you only find the tea cut, use 2 tablespoons, or in the summer time, get the hair off the corn yourself.
Also, make sure your mate does not give it back to you after you get rid of it. He can, you know. It is caught easily.
This is very effective.
(If you catch the UTI at the onset, you can do this for two or three days. But if you've had it for a while, you'll have to take it for the two week period. If you stop during these two weeks because the pain has gone, after three days, it will come back and you will have to start over again.)Your Health Food Store should have the stuff. It is cheaper than Colloidal Silver, but it will not benefit other things like the Silver will. Just UTI and Kidney infections. I keep some on hand for emergencies, and for others like me.
Works wonders

First, I have used Colloidal Silver for a seven day cleanse, that and some other stuff I won't get into detail. Most of us need to keep the energy up and be able to function while on a cleanse or whatever we are doing for healing.
Second, I wouldn't fast as there are other ways to cleanse and or heal most conditions. The human body is electrical, as everything in nature. You need to have an electrically available formulation of products to make it so the body can use it. You also need to make sure your digestive tract is getting the proper nutrients to reverse the ailment, the body heals itself, this is through supplying the body with enzymes that give the body a fighting change to accept the available nutrients you supply it.
The idea is to do a cleanse where you are also able to eat nutritional foods so your body has strength to keep going.

I used to go for antibiotics for UTI's, and have tried colloidal silver too, but don't anymore--this has been a 100% effective treatment--
Ocean Spray cranberry juice--12 ounces, 3 times daily. Cut back on sweet things and junk food till you feel better--lots of veggies. Don't use the store brands of cranberry juice because they are watered down and have a lot more high fructose corn syrup, which defeats the purpose.
This is all I ever do, and it usually only take 2 days--but on rare occasions it has been 4 days. Best of luck.

Actually you can go either way; you can make your urine more acidic (cranberries) or ALKALINE (baking soda, etc.) The reports I have read lean toward going with the alkaline approach, since it is is easier on the human body, since our pH is more alkaline naturally. You would want to take vitamins, and baking soda can inhibit folic acid absorption (B12) so it would be a good idea to take that as well.
Cranberries are good for PREVENTING UTIs, because it prevents E. coli, the bacteria that causes most urinary tract infections, from attaching to the walls of the bladder.Cranberry isn't a substitute for antibiotics in the treatment of UTIs.
Some herbs have been reported to help prevent and alleviate the symptoms of UTIs, like: horsetail, Java tea (Orthosiphon stamineus), lovage (Levisticum officinale), parsley (Petroselinum crispum), spiny restharrow (Ononis spinosa), and nettle. These herbs seem to work by increasing urinary volume and supposedly helping to flush bacteria out of the urinary tract.22 Juniper is used in a similar fashion by many doctors. Generally, these plants are taken as tea.
Phenazopyridine (over the counter medication) will help with pain or the uncomfortable feeling you get with them. (I have urethritis, and have to use it from time to time) It will turn your urine a really dark orange color, but who cares if it makes you feel better! Drink lots of water, flush your system! Good luck.

I am a relatively new colloidal silver user although my first time to use it was 3½ years ago when I was given it by a close friend whom I was staying with on holiday.. I was very poorly at the time with a raging respiratory infection and within 24 hours I was nearly new..... whereas 3 days earlier I had seriously considered cancelling my longhaul flight home until I was well enough to travel. I did not use it again until just before xmas last year (2014) for what felt like another RTI beginning.. I took 1 dessertspoon 3 times daily and within 24 hours I had averted the nasty cough that always accompanies my colds due to being asthmatic. I am always clearing my thoat too and that has eased dramatically. I also used it in a sore patch of cracked skin on my hand which was struggling to heal as it was in a finger joint area. I put it on, let it dry and went to bed, by the next day a new layer of skin had grown over the wound and within a day it was gone. The biggest miracle for me is that last August I woke up with a nasty spot on my chin and the next day my face was covered in red blobs and my skin was very sore, a burned feeling. My GP initially thought it was impetigo although it looked nothing like it.. then he thought it was eczema but again it did not have typical eczema symptoms.. I was prescribed about 4 different preparations and none of them helped.. most made it worse. I remembered the CS in the cupboard and thought would give it a try, figured it was not going to do it any harm in any case, and certainly not worse than the other creams and gels had done. I used the spray bottle I used it morning, afternoon all over my face, by spraying it into the palm of my hands and rubbing it on. Within 3 days my face was almost completely clear of nasty red eruptions and acne looking spots filled with white pus and also the scaly bits had completely gone! I went to my daughter's that week and she was so surprised h ow much better my skin was and it was the first time in several months I had been able to go out without foundation and spot cover up on. My skin had stopped burning and itching too which was a godsend. It transpires it was roseacea or so my rheumatologist thought and when I read symptoms on Google it appeared it could have been. I am now using the CS only twice a day and at the moment I would say my skin is 90% improved. I had this awful eruption on my nose and it was so sore and unsightly, nothing would cover it up and I was conscious of it all over the xmas period when I was at parties and gatherings.. a few friends had commented on how sore it looked .. Now though all you can feel there now is a tiny little blemish but its totally invisible!
On the strength of this experience, I gave my mother who is 91 and has dementia and gets regular UTI's a dose today as she has a UTI again.. the normal practice for this is a course of antibiotics but they don't seem to help her that much and usually give her diarrhoea too and generally make her feel poorly and she refuses to eat. Fingers crossed this will nip it in the bud! I can't see why it would not! The dose I have started her on today is 1tsp which I will give her again before bed, ideally though will give it 3 times daily.

My mom just takes a little bit of colloidal silver when she feels like she's coming down with something. Also, coconut oil is very good (it has natural antimicrobial properties). Many doctors will tell you that these are bad because they want more money. We've been using alternative remedies for years and we've gotten much healthier.
Oh yeah...and as for the first guy who answered, didn't you ever notice that royals ate with silver silverware, and they were always very healthy...duh!
