Hes on good start. Forgot the can of formula at my moms. Kinda out of the way. I have lipital formula at home do you think its okay to give him that just for the night? I also have step 2 formula I was thinking of maybe watering that down? Any ideas? Or should I just go get the reg formula?

I believe it would be ok. I have done that with my children before. I think I would just give him the lipital.

Most baby formulas on the market, with the exception of those with added Iron, and Lipids (DHA and ARA), are generally the same. They sometimes have slightly different amounts of certain nutrients, but ALL are guaranteed safe by the FDA. It most certainly will not cause your son any actual harm to change formula for the night, but because of different flavors and consistencies, he may simply refuse to drink the alternative. Also, it may give him an upset stomach, which can probably be remedied with some symethicone gas drops.

If he refuses to drink the formula, do go get the other from your mother's house, or ask her to bring it to you.

Also, do not use the Step 2 formula, watered down or not. This is made with different nutrients and different ingredients that younger babies cannot digest. HOWEVER, you did not list your son's age! Some Step 2 formulas are safe for any child over 4 months of age. Try reading the can and seeing if that is the case. But never give a baby formula made for an older child.

Good Luck!

do NOT use step 2. ONLY formula appropriate for his age. NEVER water down formula, always use the right measurements. One night likely won't upset him much, but it's really not ideal. Constipation, upset stomach, and more throwing up than usual are the likely outcomes if it doesn't go down too well. But it'll likely be fine. IF it's formula appropriate for his age and prepared the right way.

You'll probably be fine giving him a different brand, but don't give him the step 2. Perhaps your mom could bring the correct formula to you? Or do you have a small container of his regular tucked away in the diaper bag?

It will be fine, I did it all the time with my son. Don't water down the step 2, just use the other stuff you have. If he doesn't take it THEN go get the regular stuff. Good luck!

You should be okay for just one night. Mine is on Enfamil but she was sick....out peditrician told us to give her lactose free for 24 hours. I told my hubby to buy Lactose Free Ready to feed Enfamil. he did not.........he bought Similac Isomil. So she had that for 24 hours and was fine........all baby formulas are essentially the same thing.
EXCEPT the stage 2........don't use that yet, unless the baby is older than 9 months. those formulas are reccomended for 9-24 month old babies.

if u're baby has been a healthy baby i believe u should be able to change it. I use enfamil lipil and i wasn't able to get that one and i used parent's choice which is much cheaper than enfamil and i didn't have no problem!!!
