is it possible that there could still be 2 babies. Just wondering if it is 100% accurate at 6 weeks if you only hear one heartbeat and see one little baby.
Thankx

Pretty accurate. However, my sis-in-law didn't find out she was having twins until her 20 week ultrasound and even then she was the one that saw them on the screen, not the doc.

there's still a small chance, but you're probably only having 1. i knew someone who only heard 1 heartbeat and had 2 ultrasounds and only saw 1 baby. but when she went into labor there was 2 babies....1 was just behind the other when she had the ultrasound. but this was quite a few years ago and they're more acurate now than they were then

my friend was in a bit of a predicament of this sort about 4 months ago. it wasn't until her mid term scan that they could pick up the other baby. what had happened is their heartbeat were piggy backing sort of going bumpbump-bumpbump but it sounded like one heart beat. they realised after the doctor said we can see an extra leg and further scans revealed not a leg but a whole baby. so at 5 months here my Friend is rushing around trying to buy double of everything! but don't worry too much the chances of this happening to you are really low. they said it happens once in about every 200-300 pregnancy's. so they are pretty accurate.

that is positive hun, the child must be measuring somewhat smaller than 6 weeks and toddlers that early do no longer look on ultrasounds. provide a week and that they'll in all probability do yet another one. in the adventure that your 3 weeks from theory then you definately would only be 5 weeks and not seeing the child would be completely widely used.

They're pretty accurate these days. I *could* be wrong, but not likely. They know better later on, by the size of your uterus and listening to the heartbeat with the doppler. If there's more than one, you measure (fundal height) a LOT bigger than with just one.

anything you find out in the first trimester is going to be more accurate than what you find out later in pregnancy: most fetus grow at the same rate untill your 2 tri
