if i was in a situation with police and me potentially getting taserd i would comply with them and take it to court. i really have sympathy for these people who are un justly done by the law system.

middle class you are right! i agree 100%

2007-02-16 11:26:37 · update #5

rorer i have a taser as well and i would only use it if i were attacked i would verbally warn an attacker 2 times and if they continued to purse me i would use it... the police on the other hand there were 5 cops if 5 cops can't take down one skinny college student then there is something wrong.

2007-02-16 11:32:35 · update #6

no i would have rather they be detained in a humane way without potentially fatal consequences.... (tasers are responsible for 1000's of deaths a year)

Have you ever been tasered? I feel you are biased on the subject.. I watched the video that you posted of a black woman getting tasered... She was not following the lawful orders of the police.. He tried to pull her from the vehicle but she resisted.. she wanted to sit in the car and use the phone.. this isnt a debatable topic.. she was stopped for a lawful reason and she refused his orders.. plain and simple people that follow the rules usually dont find themselves in these situations.. This situation again isnt a political debate where the officer should have gotten a table out of his trunk and set it up next to her vehicle so they could have had a chat when she decided to join in... If the lady would have done as she was told she wouldnt of have been in the mess she got herself into.. Yes anyone and anything can be abused and thats life... but you seem to take an instance like this and say "see" abusers abusers... all cops and tasers are abusers... Every incident should be looked at on its own.. Tasers are a wonderful tool that have saved peoples lives including the police...I welcome your reply...

Blogbaba likes debates, but I have to politely decline. I looked briefly at your argument, and can only say this.

I wouldn't ever want to have the job most police officers have, it is simply too boring 95% of the time and too terrifyingly dangerous the other 5%. The use of a taser is in fact a humane way for a cop to defend him/herself in a combat situation.

You get sick, racist, violent criminals in all walks of life, even in law enforcement. It is unfortunate and deplorable. I wish someone had an answer to the problem. Hopefully most people, cops included are decent, humane and law abiding, but life isn't perfect.

Try to avoid situations that confront the police, usually the cops win, even when they overextend their authority. Hopefully you will never need a cop, but if you ever do, believe me, you will be glad to have them show up.

Interesting. Franklyn agrees with you so that in itself makes him a good person with good ethics. Very interesting. Once again, opinion turns into fact. When a suspect resists arrest and the police cannot use their weapons OR use force to subdue the suspect, who could be armed, what should they do? I think you should indeed write your lawmakers and your local newpaper and anyone else you can think of, and voice your concern. But. be prepared to present a viable safe alternative for both suspect and officer. It's very easy to make calls from the easy chair.

I agree this was unbelievable and I see people saying "don't break the law" or they can tap my phone, I don't do anything wrong...

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

The Kent State massacre-several were students walking to class...but at the time, the students were dangerous dissidents.

I read everything listed with both questions and you will not have to debate with me. I am appalled by people being treated this way. When I was in college, long ago, a Dean of Students pushed me because I was standing and listening to a war protester. I guess today I would have to worry about being tasered. It is amazing that these officers react so hotheadedly, they should be calmer and more "in charge."

relies upon on the situations. the tale is lacking way too a lot in detail. The police do no longer recognize about metallic rods in random legs, and in case your brother replaced into "resisting" they'd each and every top to throw him to the floor, no matter if he had a metallic rod. Rip his trousers off? again lack of information. Which only tells us that the "information" can make your brother look undesirable.

ya what you need to read up on is all the research into crowd control technology. Basically its Tienemen Square without the lethality but the same basic result.
