If that person is your father or grandfather---take him to lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon with him. After lunch you can go visit another relative.......sit in the park and talk......or just go for a nice drive out in the country.
If that person is not a relative......some gourmet coffee or special blend tea would make a nice gift.

a ticket to a classical music concert,opera or play,would be lovely or a massage certificate older people generally have allot of muscle aches and or not as active,and a massage at a day spa.Or a gift certificate to a book store,or department store would also be good.

I would look for something, a text, a song, or photo's, on the Internet, that will remind him of his youth and some years after that.
I find that my family loves getting stuff they remember from their youth, it doesn't have to be expensive, as long as it's searched for with loving care!

a coffin lol! no just kinding get him something that will make him feel like hes young again. so maybe a scrapbook of pictures from when he was a kid or something else to do with his youth.
