Oh yeah. Our bragging rights are how many kids we have WITHOUT a diagnosable mental illness.

Some. I'd say religion, culture, community, and their upbringing plays a role in it. When you've got everyone around you saying something's wrong/bad, it's very likely you'll turn out the same. But there are tons of dysfunctional families, it doesn't mean every kid from those family's will turn out the same. It depends on the issue and how it played out.

All families are dysfunctional. Some are just more colorful than the others.

I am an adopted child. My adoptive family is fairly normal, sometimes too normal. My biological family on the other hand, really scares me. There is nothing normal about them. I met them 1 1/2 yrs ago.

i read a report recently that said 64% of all americans come from dysfunctional families, so i guess by definition its the normal ppl who come from these type of families

normal is just the average mean, so it's possible, although i don't know how you can grasp that concept.

as someone said, everyone is dysfunctional, in some sort of way and if you deny that, you're lying to yourself

Yes, severely dysfunctional.

Is there a "normal" family? Perhaps. I've never seen one, though.

I don't think that there is sutch a thing as 'normal' anymore. In fact, to be 'normal' would be abnormal! We all come from sutch different backgrounds and heritages that we don't know what different is anymore.
