In the near future, new versions of blu-ray are in development that can hold up to 1 terabyte of data. Flash memory is getting cheaper, and a flash drive large enough to hold a movie may become practical. MIT is researching storing data using dots on sheets of paper. One sheet can hold several gigs. I don't how much potential this has. Also people are investigating using organic materials to store data.

Eventually they need to come up with an interface for the wetware so we can beam impulses directly into our craniums.
