I am new to the web site design thingy, but have followed all my literature to the "T", but it has been 4 months now since I uploaded the complete site and Yahoo + Google still can't find it via their search engines. I even paid £30 to an English company to do it on another site and that still doesn't work. I am sure my meta tags are ok. windsorarms.co.uk & villa insouthturkey.co.uk. Ian!

Firstly - getting your site into Yahoo not only takes many months but it is a lot more than just getting your meta tags correct.

I looked at your meta tags and they are not right. You are spamming by mentioning the same words several times for example: windsor arms, devon etc

Your site is quite good but loads very slowly and is graphic heavy.

Lastly - your English company - Ian - has inserted his own link in your site - which is a bit of a cheek!

I have over 50 sites - many of them on the first page of Yahoo and Google. I have just completed this book
Successful SEO :http://www.clikks.com/seo_easy.html

which explains how to get over a lot of these problems. Contact me and I'll give you better meta tags. The book will explain the other things you can do.

After being too commonly used to manipulate search results, the major search engines have stopped paying any attention to meta keywords, they now actually read the page content to determine the subject. though including select keywords as well as related terms in an article can boost ranking for that keyword. Ideally the meta title and meta description would be different for each page, the meta description doesn't directly effect ranking , but is used in the search result summaries where it can have a big effect ion the search result click rate. The easiest way to be found in searches within your community is probably with a free Google Places page, a Google search for: coating, Wrexham Gave me 4 A-D lettered stick pins representing local pages, there is room on page 1 for 7 pf these results, note they often link to the company site when clicked, but the places page is what is earning the ranking. Yahoo has a similar business page system. A Facebook page for he business could not hurt, press releases can earn your some improved page rank as sell, though they may be a more short lived source. Ideally you would include some engaging human element that might be picked up be the local legitimate press. Perhaps the link counld say Email Us, so you have only one Contact Us link on the first page.

According to Google the majority of their index is created by spiders looking for links. The more sites that link to your site the higher it will appear in the list. They use formulas counting links to links to links to see the importance of links. If there is absolutely no link to your site it will never reach the index.

Your sites are not on Google. You can verify that by searching for
site:xxx.yyy.zzz

To get into Yahoo's index you want to do one of two things:

1) Get a link from a page already in Yahoo's index.
2) Do an XML feed of your site and submit it through Site Explorer

Hi,I have run windsorarms.co uk through my SEO software and apart from it having a slightly low text content, I can't see any particular reason for it not being indexed by google, maybe you should just re-submit it to the search engines, just use a free service and see how that goes~ sometimes despite your best efforts it's just down to luck, not very technical I know.
