If my husband were Japanese, I'd consider it, sure. Since that's not the case, I'd have to say no. A Japanese first name combined with my traditional English surname would sound ridiculous.

Yes I would. I love Asian names in general. In fact my aunt is named Tamiko which is Japanese. I want to name my future child Aoki. Its a hell of a lot better than naming your kid Darrinika or Bouchetta.

If his/her last name is already Japanese, then of course, it's a moot point. If not, may be you can consider using it for middle name, so he/she can have own choice to embrace his/her heritage when he grows up. Before then, he/she is protected from possible discrimination.

I really like the name Kai for a boy. And, I had a really good friend that was a foreign exchange student in high school. I'd use her name as a middle name if we had kept in touch...

Yes, I would. But only for a girl. I would name her Ai. It means 'Love' in Japanese. And it is pronounced (Eye)

I would try to find a name that could be pronounce it English, is I live in an English speaking country

my husband and i are both caucasian and our daughter middle name is cai which is a name in chinese, japanese, and korean i just like the way it sounded i didnt care about the nationality
