The small pain is harder to tolerate, although it is minor the constant irritation eventually becomes unbearable some days. It is hard to ever imagine what life is like without pain.
The thought of the the big pain eventually subsiding is more tolerable because you know the outcome will be relief, eventually.

I would think small pain that never ends you could get used to and with a big pain that may end, if you know it's going to end then you should be able to suck it up and deal with it.

Either way, pain sucks, but they both seem bearable.
