Do paint codes for automotvie paint work the same way as for house paint, as in if I have a paint code for a particular color and take it to automotive paint store can they match the color?

Yes they do. Paint store will need the year, make and model of vehicle and the paint code (ex: PR4) to mix your paint.

Yup, that is it in a nutshell. In order to get the right color, its best to have the paint code. Now, please remember that painting an older vehicle, you might think you have the wrong paint, but it may simply be due to the effects of solar fading.

Yes they do have their own codes. For example: Ford's Black Paint is code "UA"

probaly not because the car paint code is manufacture specific and they would have to have every manfacs manuals.

yes if you know the code take it to a autobody parts store and they can match it
