Seriously get a job, if you ask me for a smoke or change again I am going to rip your face off, God gave you arms and legs, use them for work you lazy losers. Get a life!!!!

Would you hire one of them? It's not that easy. Do you think a lazy person could survive this freezing, snowy winter in the streets? Nevermind that - do you think *you* could?
You'd be amazed at how resourceful these homeless people actually are - they know all the organizations, they have their names on waiting lists for housing programs, they can tell you exactly where the nearest shelter is - they are anything but lazy.
"Lazy" assumes that they are content with being homeless -- just look out your window. It's not paradise out there. Do you really think they're happy living that way? Especially having to deal regularly with people like you? Can you honestly imagine having to walk up to someone and ask them for a dollar? And having them say, "F*ck off and get a job!"
Do you think it would be fun sitting on the cold sidewalk while people pass you, purposely looking away so that they don't have to speak to you? Can you imagine if you lost your wallet, you needed a quarter to call your friend to help you out, and the only way you could help is by holding up a cardboard sign explaining your situation and waiting while people try to pretend you aren't there? Can you imagine living like that constantly?
Think about all the regular people living who are trying to find jobs - can you imagine trying to get a job when you have no clean clothes, you're scruffy and unshaven, you have limited access to a proper shower or bathroom, and you don't have a nice Lexmark printer to churn out your resume?
How would you go about it? Could you go about it if you also had a drug addiction, a mental illness, or a history of abuse?
I'm not saying some of these people haven't made mistakes. Big mistakes. And some of them (particularly the younger ones who sit on Queen Street West) could certainly get somewhere if they really, really tried.
But I think you need to understand that it's easy to rip someone's face off when you have a home to go to at the end of the night, and money for groceries.
You tell them to get a life...I tell you to get some compassion.

I don't know all of Canada's laws, but here in the US , maybe they can't get a job because they are homeless!!! You have to have a residence address,proper attire, and a way to get to work. Not all homeless people are ignorant and lazy. By the way, have you ever looked up the word ignorant in the dictionary? You may be surprised to see a picture of yourself!
